Support to Family Initiatives

In 2007, the Imali programme was launched as a means to improve the lives of widows and child headed households through the use of psychosocial support and Income Generating Activities (IGAs).

The Imali programme groups these vulnerable people in cooperatives and trains them in growing tomatoes and mushrooms in greenhouses. Once harvested, the cooperatives make enough money for members to be financially independent.

To date there are 22 cooperatives established by 877 women and 206 men members.
